MoMa Café Bar is fairly new in the downtown Kaiserslautern dining and café scene, but it will quickly become your old favorite once you visit.
Located on Löwenstrasse, a side street near the K in Lautern mall, its bright red outdoor chairs set the mood for this modern establishment.
Once inside, it’s supposed to be a New York-themed café. But while they may have the look down just right, it’s entirely too friendly and warm to embody NYC completely. MoMa has its own identity, one that its regulars and soon-to-be regulars can’t get enough of.
Its regular coffee and espressos are a highlight, of course, but MoMa offers many other delights for its customers. Its German cheesecake is so light and fluffy and is a must-have, no matter what time of day you visit. MoMa is also one of the only places in town where you can get a good iced coffee – a rare treat in Germany.
Beyond its “Kaffee und Kuchen” offerings, MoMa makes delectable soups and light meals for lunch. It also serves as a functional daytime wine bar for those who have moved past their morning – or whatever time! —coffee and are ready to enjoy the day with something alcoholic. Occasionally, MoMa will also host a tapas night with live music.
And all of this is served with a smile. MoMa has some of the best staff in town, always ready to crack a joke or brighten your day with something special from behind the counter.
MoMa Café Bar is a must visit. It just might become a habit.
MoMa is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, it is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. MoMa is closed on Sundays.
