Summer is here and this one is a hot one. Finally! I thought of putting a list together of my favorite’s pools from around the KMC (on my order of preference). This is solely my opinion based on my preferences, so what is important to me might not really matter much to you, but anyhow. Here are my choices:

Monte Mare

I always like this place because it makes feel like I am on vacation somewhere. The place is more like a spa, with saunas, hot tubs, a wave pool, slides, a sports pool, tanning rooms, cafeteria, and other entertainment. It is great for the whole and it is open all year round. A bit more pricey than the other choices.

There is something about this swimming that I really like. Maybe the big volleyball court, or the bridge over the pool, or just maybe the giant mushroom looking thing in the middle of the pool. You have to check this one for yourself.

Next on my list is Azur in Ramstein. The outside facilities are great; however, in winter the inside feel somehow crowded. It has a nice area for the kids. Price is also OK. You should go when it is hot so that you can enjoy the grounds outside.

Warmfreibad Kaiserslautern

The location of this pool is fantastic. It is located next to the Vollspark and about a 10 minute walk for the Kleber Barracks. It is a complex of three swimming pools with a huge yard to lay around. One of the pools is designated for jumping with its up to 10 meter high platform. Definitely do not skip this one.

The Waschmüle is one of the largest swimming pools in Europe. The only reason this gigantic swimming pool is so down on my list is because the water is cold. Other than that you should have a pretty good time there. The crowd there is great, kids enjoy diving from the platform, and there is always someone doing crazy dives and splashes. Huge grassed area to catch the sun, but if you do not like the grass you can also stay right by pool side. Better view!
